Start a bond request with what you have.
You don't need a complete submission to call us. Gather what you can from the list below. If something is missing, or you're not sure which bond your client needs, describe the request and we'll tell you what comes next.
- Agency name
- Your name and role
- Business email and phone
- Best way to reach you
- Who needs the bond
- Bond type, if known
- Required amount and state
- Who is requiring it (the obligee)
- Deadline or effective date
- New, renewal or change
Keep the original requirement handy: the bond form, contract excerpt, licensing notice, court order or written request. A client's summary often leaves out the form, the obligee's exact name or a date.
What helps us move fastest
Contract bonds
Project, owner, contract amount, bid or start date, and the bond form. For a first-time contractor: business financials, owners' personal financial statements, a work-on-hand schedule and credit consent.
License and permit
The license or permit, the issuing authority and its bond form. Clean-credit filings usually issue the same business day.
Court and fiduciary
Type of matter, court, required amount and deadline. For estates, the estimated personal property value. NJ, NY, PA and CT forms on file.
ERISA
Plan name and the highest asset value the plan handled last year. The bond must be at least 10% of funds handled. Clean applications issue instantly.
BMC-84 freight broker
MC/MX number, contact information and personal-credit consent. Prime credit quotes and files same day.
Subdivision and site plan
The development, location, approving municipality and required improvements.
Three things that make underwriters nervous
Spot these early and add the context up front. A file with the explanation attached moves faster than one that raises the question.
Fast growth, thin capital
Revenue up, working capital flat. Send a WIP schedule with margins, how the growth is financed, and a staffing plan.
Unclear ownership
Overlapping entities or an owner who isn't in the business. Send an ownership chart and who signs the indemnity, and why.
The big jump
A job two to three times the largest completed. Send similar past jobs, the people supporting the work, and project controls.
Common questions
Can I call before I have an application?
Yes. Describe the request and we'll tell you what the underwriter needs.
What if I don't know the bond type?
Tell us what your client is being asked to provide and by whom, and send the written requirement.
Another market declined it. Will you look?
Yes. Send the background and the reason for the decline if you know it. Our specialty markets exist for these files, though a second review doesn't guarantee approval.
How fast can the bond issue?
Small license, permit and court bonds can issue in minutes. Larger performance bonds and first-time contract files take several business days. Tell us the deadline up front.
How do you pay brokers?
We pay a very competitive commission on every bond. Call Anthony for the specifics for your agency.
Is there a minimum production requirement?
No. There is no minimum. Agencies that send us a few bonds a year are welcome.
Do you write other insurance for my client?
No. We write bonds only. The rest of your client's program stays with you.
How do I send confidential documents?
Don't email financials blind. Ask Anthony and he'll give you the right way to send them.
Ready to send a request?
Call or email Anthony. A short description is enough to start.
